The challenge
The Center for AI and Digital Policy (CAIDP) produces the annual Artificial Intelligence and Democratic Values Index, a comprehensive assessment of how countries around the world are addressing the ethical, safety, and governance implications of artificial intelligence. The 2023 edition required coordinating a large, geographically distributed research team to analyze and update country-specific AI policy frameworks within a tight publication timeline.
What I did
Team Leadership: I managed a 20-member global research team composed of policy researchers, analysts, and subject-matter experts across multiple countries and time zones. I set research priorities, managed workflows, and ensured consistent quality and analytical rigor across all deliverables.
Country-Specific Policy Analysis: I coordinated in-depth assessments of AI policy frameworks for five countries, including Switzerland. Each assessment examined the nation’s regulatory approach, institutional infrastructure, alignment with democratic values, and progress on responsible AI implementation.
Policy Framework Development: I collaborated with academics, policymakers, and civil society representatives to design AI policy frameworks that balanced innovation incentives with democratic accountability and public safety.
Research and Recommendations: I conducted original research on the ethical, legal, and governance dimensions of AI, delivering evidence-based recommendations for responsible AI policy and practice in both organizational and governmental settings.
